CAST

Commitment: September - Early May

Students in cast are enrolled in Musical Theatre as an X-block course, meaning class is held outside the regular school day timetable after school. Students in cast are the performers in our Spring musical, requiring them to sing, dance, and act as characters in the production. This program requires an entrance audition held in June (Grades 9-11) or beginning of September (Grade 8) in which students demonstrate their singing and acting abilities with the hope of being accepted into the program. If they are selected for cast, they will become permanent members for the remainder of their time at Seaquam, if desired.

Show auditions begin mid-September leading to the show cast selection. Students in cast prepare 2-3 songs from the show, learn a portion of dance choreography, and memorize 2-3 scenes from the show with a group to audition with.

The cast list will be posted the first week of October, with rehearsals beginning immediately after. All cast members will receive a role.

Cast members will only be called for rehearsal when needed for specific scenes their character(s) are featured in, and the frequency and duration of rehearsals will gradually increase as performance week approaches. All cast members must completely clear their schedule in order to attend rehearsals during tech and show week.
At the end of the school year, students will receive assessment and course credit.
