volunteer crew
Commitment:
Option A) September-May
Option B) September-March
Students in Volunteer Stage Crew participate as a club member rather than enrolling in the course. As a result, they have more flexibility with their involvement and can choose to not participate in performance week if they so choose. Attending club meetings once per week, students are responsible for designing, building, and painting set pieces and props alongside their enrolled peers. At the beginning of January, they must decide whether they would like to participate in show week, which will require them to run the technical elements of our Spring musical and take on more responsibility. These technical elements include carpentry, painting, crafting, drafting, sound operation, lighting operation, microphone operation, running crew, props mastery, scene running, stage managing, costume creation and management, makeup artistry, and more.
If they wish to participate in performance week, they will begin attending all scheduled rehearsals with the cast in April. Volunteer Stage Crew students require a willingness for hands-on learning, a degree of physical fitness, and a strong work-ethic in order to have a successful and rewarding experience.
At the end of the school year, students will receive authorized volunteer hours for their time spent working on the show. They do not receive course credit or assessment.
